Case Studies of Successful Authors
Noah St.
John, Author of
Special Note before you listen to this
teleseminar:
This was a very interesting
interview with Noah St. John.
Noah is a "successful author" by all standards. His book was published by a mainstream publisher
(Harper Business Books), snagged a 6-figure advance, and has gotten him on many major television shows. In this
interview and the last one, 6 months prior, Noah shares his perspectives of what it takes to become "successful."
His book is all about being successful as well.
Yet, I don't necessarily agree with everything he said. Publishers care supremely about platform,
it is true, but you don't have to be a Joel Olstein to be published. If you have the potential to become great, and
you're already working hard toward that end, and your book is solid and fresh--a publisher may well take a chance
on you. (That is how all books are viewed--taking a chance on an author. They do what they can to minimize the
riesks.)
I also believe that "success" is defined individually, and for many of us authors, it's not equal
to "becoming a celebrity."
I'm also not sure you have to wait until you're a successful author to create a community. I'm
still noodling on that one.
So listen to the interview, and see what you think. Share your comments on the Your Book Publishing Coach blog, please. I'd love to hear
them!
In this second case study of a successful author, Diane interviews
Noah St. John, author of
The Secret Code of Success, which was published by a major publisher (Harper Business Books), and
garnered Noah a high six-figure advance. Find out how Noah started from "ground zero" with the media and built a
successful platform, and what "new era publishing" marketing strategies he's using now to become "well heard and
well paid for what he knows and loves to do."
